Our focus is creating homes where architecture embraces light, nature, and our client’s individuality; each project is a bespoke reflection of your needs and a sympathetic response to the site.
As a small Architectural Design Studio, we prioritise a personalised approach, with our philosophy centred on you — our clients. We work across Derbyshire and the Midlands on a range of private residential commissions including extensions, renovations, new build homes and alongside local Developers.

Our comprehensive architectural design services encompass every phase of your project, offering various levels of involvement tailored to your preferences - allowing you to choose the level of involvement that suits you;

Design Concept + Discovery
We believe in taking the time to thoroughly understand your lifestyle and project requirements, ensuring that every design we create is not only visually captivating but also perfectly tailored to you. We will create and present bespoke architectural design concepts, best suited to your individual needs and the property.

Technical Design
With planning approval in place, we can prepare the information required to construct the building, with detailed construction drawings and all supporting documentation. Our trusted third-party Structural Engineers produce full structural drawings and calculations, and we can assist with the tender process and contractor selection, along with acting as the Principal Designer for Building Regulations.

Developed Design
This is where we refine the designs set out in the concept design phase, with your input and collaboration, a finalised design is developed, ready for a planning application. Managing the application process on your behalf, we ensure everything stays on track and you’re informed.

Build
During the Build, our role includes attending the site and ensuring works are being carried out in line with the agreed technical design, with regular meetings to review progress and to keep you up to date, making the entire process run as smoothly and stress-free as possible. Finishing with practical completion, defects and snagging, to final certifications, before handing over your completed project!

Established in 2018, Barrett + Day Architecture was founded by Edward Day and Richard Barrett.

As a small architectural design studio, we offer a personalised experience, dedicating time to fully understand you, and your project.
